About Rita
Rita Godin was admitted to the New Brunswick bar on January 30, 1984 and has practised law in Bathurst for over three decades, focusing on family, children's, and elder law. Godin's early practice, from 1984 to 1990, was under the supervision of Me Aldéa Landry, followed by a role as Crown Prosecutor with the New Brunswick Department of Justice from 1990 to 2008, handling child and adult protection and support matters. Godin has extensive experience in the Court of Queen's Bench family division and has appeared before the New Brunswick Court of Appeal and, in 1998, the Supreme Court of Canada. Godin holds an M.A. in Political Science from Université Laval (1983), an LL.B. from Université de Moncton (1983), and a B.A. in Political Science from Université de Moncton. Godin is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the New Brunswick Bar Association, and the Bathurst Chamber of Commerce, and has been active in community organizations including the Chaleur Family Center for autism and Asperger's and the Passage House, which provides housing for women and children fleeing violence.
