About René

René Dion joined the Barreau du Québec in 2000 after earning his bachelor of laws from Université Laval. He spent his first years at a small private firm in the Québec City region, developing experience in civil law, labour law, criminal and penal law, municipal regulatory law, family law and insurance law. In September 2002 he became in-house director of legal affairs for broadcaster Genex Communications inc., where he handled commercial and corporate law, defamation, CRTC regulatory matters, injunctions, labour law, contract drafting and tax law. In that role he represented Genex Communications, alongside Me Guy Bertrand, in a case that went to the Supreme Court of Canada over the fundamental rights of radio station CHOI-FM, and he represented CHOI-FM, CKNU-FM and several radio hosts in high-profile defamation matters. He opened his own private practice on September 1, 2009.
