About Paul

Paul is counsel and a family and civil mediator with more than 25 years of experience as a lawyer and 23 years as a Provincial Court Judge of British Columbia, appointed to the bench in 1999. Over his judicial career he presided over thousands of criminal, youth, family, and civil trials and mediated hundreds of settlement conferences, and he served as editor of the Judges Civil Rules Book. Since transitioning to mediation, he has assisted clients with family matters including parenting arrangements, property division, and support, as well as civil disputes involving contracts, debts, and workplace and construction matters. He has served as a peer counsellor with the Lawyers Assistance Program for 23 years.
