About Patrick
Patrick W. Burgess is a senior energy sector transactional counsel who founded Burgess Energy Advisors to provide experienced legal and business advice to the energy industry. He practices in energy law along with related commercial and corporate matters, with extensive experience in domestic and international oil and gas property acquisitions and dispositions, property exchanges, and joint venture transactions. For over 40 years he has negotiated and drafted contracts covering the energy industry, including midstream agreements, processing and transportation contracts, crude oil blending agreements, and facility and infrastructure agreements. He has advised on complex operational issues and the interpretation of industry agreements such as farmout agreements, pooling agreements, operating agreements, royalty agreements, freehold leases, and facilities agreements. Patrick previously served as VP Legal and General Counsel for a private Canadian producer, handling its Canadian, US, and international matters, including a drillship and drilling concessions in the Philippines and Indonesia. He has also served as corporate secretary for Pulse Seismic Inc. and as Chair of the Board of Directors of Broadbill Energy Inc. for three years.
