About Michelle

Michelle Mehl leads Mehlwyn Law, a remote family law and wills and estates practice based in Burlington, Ontario. Originally from South Africa, she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in 1992 and began her career as a police officer, rising to Superintendent, before serving as in-house legal counsel for the South African Police Services. After moving to Canada she worked as a Family Law Clerk in Hamilton for seven years and taught as a law lecturer, then completed her Canadian Certificate of Accreditation in 2018 and was called to the Bar in 2019. She holds a Master's degree in Family Law (cum laude) and is trained in family mediation and collaborative practice.
