May was born and raised in the Philippines, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the Cordilleras. She later obtained a Bachelor of Laws from Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia in 2023. May moved to Grande Prairie in 2005, where she worked as a live-in caregiver and then spent eight years as a community support worker for people with developmental disabilities before working 8.5 years as a Judicial Clerk at the Court of King's Bench in Grande Prairie. She currently serves as President of the Filipino Association of Grande Prairie and Area and is fluent in Tagalog, Ilocano, Pangasinense, and Bisaya, with conversational Mandarin and Spanish.
