Larry Smeets is the founder and president of Smeets Law Corporation, which he established in 2002. His litigation practice covers both criminal and civil matters, alongside an immigration and international law practice, and some of his cases have received national and international media attention, including coverage by CBC National News, CBC's As It Happens, The National Post, The Globe and Mail, and The Vancouver Sun. Larry studied international and Asian history at the University of Saskatchewan, earning a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Master of Arts on a full graduate scholarship, then taught history there for a year before completing his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Alberta in 1990. He is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, the International Commission of Jurists, and the Canadian Council on International Law, and is on the assigned counsel list of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.
