Koby Smutylo is the principal lawyer of Smutylo Law+, a boutique business law firm in Ottawa he founded in 2010. He practiced corporate finance, securities, and commercial law on Bay Street in Toronto, acting as counsel to small and mid-sized businesses, TSX and TSX-V listed public companies, and investment dealers. After returning to Ottawa, he served as senior corporate counsel to Corel Corporation, managing legal teams in Ottawa, Taiwan, and Japan. Since founding Smutylo Law+, he has advised clients across Canada, the United States, South America, Europe, and Asia, including software and technology companies, mining and resource issuers, and professional service providers, while continuing to take on selected in-house general counsel roles. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2000 and holds a J.D. from Western University and an undergraduate degree from Queen's University.
