About Kathleen

Kathleen M. Kinchen practises family law and estate planning at Whittle & Company, Lawyers in Whitehorse, which she co-founded in 1995. She holds an LL.B. from the University of British Columbia and a B.A. Honours in sociology from York University, and was called to the bar in both British Columbia and Yukon in 1995. Before becoming a lawyer she worked extensively in social services. Her family law practice covers divorce, division of assets, and spousal support, as well as custody, guardianship, access, and child support matters. Her estate work includes preparing wills, enduring powers of attorney, representation agreements, and testamentary trusts. She has appeared before the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Court of Appeal of Yukon, the Supreme Court of Yukon, the Territorial Court of Yukon, and the Yukon Water Board.
