About Karen

Karen MacMillan is Lawson Lundell's Managing Partner and co-leads the firm's Global Mining Group. She practises corporate/commercial, mining, and energy law, with a focus on commercial arrangements such as asset acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures, royalty agreements, and procurement and construction agreements. She has advised clients including Newmont, Barrick Gold, Agnico-Eagle, and B2Gold on mining transactions, and also advises on power generation, power purchase agreements, and renewable energy projects. Earlier in her career she worked in-house with clients in the energy and forest-products sectors, focusing on procurement, construction, and contracting matters. She was the firm's first Chief Inclusiveness Officer, leading its diversity and inclusiveness initiatives.
