Criminal DefenceJulia Kushnir is the founder and lead counsel of Julia Kushnir Law, representing clients facing criminal and regulatory charges across Ontario and Canada. Her practice centres on protecting clients' constitutional rights and holding government agencies and law enforcement to the limits of their lawful authority. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor, completing a judicial internship under Justice Dean, and before founding her own firm she worked at a criminal defence firm in Toronto, arguing matters before the Ontario Superior Court and the Court of Appeal for Ontario. Kushnir is a founding member of Canadian Lawyers for Ukraine and belongs to the Criminal Lawyers' Association, the Ukrainian Canadian Bar Association and the Ukrainian Youth Association of Canada. She has coached the Yaroslav Mudrij (Kharkiv) Jessup Moot Court Team, taught cross-examination at the Osgoode Courtroom Testimony Workshop for police and law enforcement professionals, and guest lectured on international human rights law at the University of Victoria Faculty of Law. She is fluent in French and Ukrainian and regularly assists clients in both languages.
