About Jonathan

Jonathan Avis is a criminal defence trial lawyer serving clients throughout British Columbia. He studied political science and philosophy at Malaspina University College (now Vancouver Island University) in Nanaimo, playing varsity soccer for the Malaspina Mariners, and received his Bachelor of Arts with distinction in 2007. He then studied law at the University of British Columbia, earning his Juris Doctor in 2011, and articled with Verdurmen & Company before being called to the bar in 2012. He began his solo practice in 2016 and has defended clients on a wide range of matters in the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia, as well as the British Columbia Court of Appeal and the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal.
