About Jill
Jill Gunn practises law in Ottawa with a focus on advocating for RCMP Members involved in labour relations processes, work she has done since 2005. She began working alongside police officers during her articles with the Kingston Crown Attorney's office, and later served as in-house counsel with York Regional Police, where she prosecuted Police Services Act disciplinary offences and advised on freedom of information and privacy matters. Gunn spent eight years at the RCMP External Review Committee, the federal tribunal that provides civilian oversight of RCMP labour relations, producing and peer-reviewing reports on Code of Conduct appeals, medical discharges, and harassment and human rights complaints. She also spent two years at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. Gunn earned her Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University in 2000, was called to the Ontario bar in 2002, and completed a Master of Laws focused on policing issues at Osgoode Hall Law School in 2015. She opened her own practice in January 2018 and holds RCMP Level II (Secret) security clearance.
