About Jacob
Jacob Barry Kowarsky, known as Jack, has practised law for more than fifty years at Kowarsky & Company, where he has been junior associate, partner, managing partner, senior partner, and consulting associate. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia in 1963 and was called to the bar in June 1964. He is a co-author of British Columbia Supreme Court Practice, Court of Appeal Practice, Motor Vehicle Damage Assessments, and Family Law Digests, and has lectured at Trial Advocacy Workshops and instructed articling students in court procedure and family law. He is a director and trustee of the Lohn Foundation, one of BC's largest private charitable foundations, and has held numerous community roles, including on the Board of Governors of Simon Fraser University and the Board of Trustees of Vancouver Hospital and Health Science Centre. He received honorary Doctor of Laws degrees from Bar-Ilan University in Israel in 1992 and from Simon Fraser University in 2003.
