Igor Ellyn founded Ellyn Law LLP and built a career as a senior commercial litigator, chartered arbitrator, and mediator, with particular depth in shareholder and partnership disputes. He was called to the Ontario bar in 1973, named Queen's Counsel in 1985, and has held certification as a specialist in civil litigation dating to 1989. His litigation record spans the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Divisional Court, and Court of Appeal, as well as the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. He has also arbitrated matters domestically and abroad, appearing before international arbitral institutions including bodies affiliated with the International Chamber of Commerce and London-based arbitration tribunals, and in 2009 he was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales, appearing before the High Court in London. He served as President of the Ontario Bar Association, where he founded its Equal Opportunity Committee, and he chairs the Toronto Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. His practice has touched business disputes, non-union employment law, securities matters, e-commerce and copyright, commercial leases, construction law, and estates.
