About Ian

Ian S. Purvis has practiced law in Woodstock, New Brunswick for over 40 years. His work covers family law, corporate and commercial transactions, real estate, wills and estates, and employment law, and he has appeared before New Brunswick's Provincial Court, the Court of Queen's Bench, and the Court of Appeal. His current practice focuses on complex family law matters involving non-marital property disputes and family businesses, along with financial transactions such as refinancing, sales, purchases, and family rollovers for business owners. He also has an interest in elder law and estate planning for older clients. Purvis earned a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick, articled with Paul B. Maddox in Woodstock, and was a senior partner at Crocco Hunter Purvis Depow from 1979 to 2004 before practicing on his own from 2004 to 2012. He has served as a member of the Financial and Consumer Services Commission of New Brunswick since 2013 and as a Lawyers' Fee Reviewing Officer for the Law Society of New Brunswick since 2011. He holds the honorific title of King's Counsel (K.C.).
