About Haig

Haig DeRusha has practiced law in Ontario for more than 25 years, working across family law, civil litigation, criminal law, and estate litigation, and appearing before numerous tribunals and disciplinary boards along the way. Negotiation, collaborative discussion, and mediation come first, with litigation as a last resort, though Haig's advocacy and courtroom skills come to the fore when a case must go that route. Haig has taught at the Bar Admission Program in advocacy, professional responsibility, and criminal procedure, marked family law exams, and spoken at various professional events. Haig is designated a Family Law Specialist by the Law Society of Ontario and is a Certified Family Mediator with the Family Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario. Haig holds an LL.B. from the University of Windsor and an LL.M. in civil litigation and dispute resolution, and was called to the Ontario bar in 1984.
