About Diane

Diane Brais is the managing partner of Brais & Associés, which she founded in 1993 after directing her practice toward family law following her admission to the Barreau du Québec in 1988. She has pleaded numerous complex divorce cases before the Superior Court and the Court of Appeal, including files touching on business law, private international law involving foreign procedures and laws, trusts and estate planning, the reconstruction of hidden income and assets, and undisclosed agreements. She has also handled complex custody disputes involving parental alienation, relocation of a custodial parent, and child abuse, often requiring extensive expert evidence, and has represented clients in settlement negotiations, settlement conferences at the Superior Court, and judicial mediation at the Court of Appeal. She sat on the Barreau de Montréal's liaison committee with the Superior Court on family matters from 2006 to 2009, chairing a subcommittee on safeguard orders for two years, and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association. She earned a B.Sc. in industrial relations from the Université de Montréal before completing her law degree at McGill University in 1987, and is bilingual.
