About Chris

Chris Tonks is a partner at Prouse, Dash & Crouch practising civil and commercial litigation as well as municipal law, with matters ranging from property disputes and construction liens to shareholder and business disputes and condominium law. He has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal, the Human Rights Tribunal, municipal Committees of Adjustment, the Toronto Local Appeal Body and the Ontario Land Tribunal. Before focusing on private practice, Chris served four consecutive terms as a public school trustee on the Toronto District School Board between 2006 and 2022, representing York South Weston and overseeing budget and policy for Canada's largest school board. He earned his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Wales in 2004 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2006.
