About CFP Law

CFP Law is the criminal defence practice of Chantal F. Paquette, a lawyer with the Law Society of British Columbia. The office is at Park Royal in West Vancouver, and the practice serves clients across the Lower Mainland and in courts throughout British Columbia, including the BC Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. Paquette's training in criminal law began in 2005, and the past decade has been spent practicing exclusively in that field, taking on matters that range from drug offences, assault, and sexual offence charges to fraud, weapons offences, bail hearings, youth cases, theft, and appeals. The firm's site states the practice has handled more than 1,000 cases, including more than 30 jury trials.

Alongside defence work, Paquette also acts as ad hoc Crown counsel and as complainant's counsel in some proceedings, with experience in BC's Drug Treatment Court and First Nations Court. Paquette is a director of the Criminal Defence Advocacy Society and chairs the Criminal Tariff Committee for the Association of Legal Aid Lawyers, and is a principal at the UBC Criminal Law Clinic, working with law students and articled students on trial advocacy.
