Founder Rena Chen was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2015 and, after finding that courtroom advocacy alone wasn't the right fit for most family disputes, spent more than 100 training hours to become a mediator and a certified collaborative family lawyer. The firm now has three lawyers, Rena Chen, Jobe Chan, and Nicole Propp, along with a paralegal and an administrative assistant. Rena Chen speaks English and Mandarin and Jobe Chan speaks English and Cantonese, so the firm can serve Mandarin and Cantonese speaking clients directly.

The firm's practice covers cohabitation and marriage agreements, divorce and separation, parenting arrangements, child and spousal support, and division of property and debts, plus complex matters like cross-border property and corporate interests, high net worth cases, and self-employment income disputes. C & Co Family Law leans toward mediation and collaborative family law over litigation, and it's certified through Collaborative Divorce Vancouver and the BC Collaborative Roster Society. The firm's site says it settles over 90% of its cases, close to 70% of them within a year, while its lawyers remain ready to appear before the Provincial Court of BC, the Supreme Court of BC, and the Court of Appeal when a file needs to go to court.
