About Bloom Law

Bloom Law is a solo criminal defence practice based in downtown Vancouver, run by Michael Bloom. Bloom graduated from the University of Western Ontario's law school with multiple first-in-class academic awards, then was recruited straight into a Judicial Law Clerk position at the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Before turning to law, Bloom worked as a Professional Engineer. Bloom went on to join the Crown as a prosecutor on the trial team at Surrey Provincial Court, a high-volume criminal court in the Lower Mainland, litigating cases for the Criminal Justice Branch before moving into defence work.

After leaving the Crown's office, Bloom trained alongside longtime Vancouver criminal defence lawyer Russ Chamberlain, Q.C., in the final years of Chamberlain's career, and continued working with Chamberlain until Chamberlain's death in March 2019. Bloom then took over the practice and now runs it as Bloom Law, representing clients across British Columbia, including Vancouver, Surrey, Victoria, Kelowna, and Abbotsford. The firm handles impaired driving, drug, weapons, domestic violence, and sexual offence charges, and offers a free initial consultation to discuss a case and its possible defences.
