About Contreras Law

Contreras Law is a Port Moody, British Columbia firm built mainly around Canadian immigration law, with added practice in civil litigation and co-operative housing association disputes. Founder Johann Contreras set up the practice in Port Moody after a few years working in downtown Vancouver. Contreras holds a Bachelor of Arts in criminology and sociology from Simon Fraser University and a law degree from Bond University in Queensland, Australia, and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia. Contreras's own parents met in Mexico and were later reunited in Canada through spousal sponsorship, a history that runs through a lot of the firm's immigration work.

Simarpreet Singh Singara joined the firm in 2024 and runs its Langley office, adding family law and criminal defence alongside immigration and civil litigation. Singara studied law at the University of Manchester, articled at a law firm in Surrey, and was called to the bar of British Columbia in 2022. Singara has since appeared in both the Provincial Court and the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Between the two offices, Contreras Law serves clients across the Lower Mainland and, for immigration files, people applying from anywhere in the world. Clients who can't make it in person can book a virtual consultation instead.
