About Bühler Law

Buhler Law is a one lawyer civil litigation practice on central Vancouver Island. Its office sits in Oyster Bay Village on the Trans Canada Highway, between Nanaimo and Ladysmith. The firm handles wills and estates litigation, commercial and corporate disputes (including partnership disagreements and oppression or derivative claims), contract and property claims, and breach of trust claims, working toward resolution through negotiation or, when that isn't possible, in court.

Martin Buhler, C.D., K.C. established the practice. Martin earned a Bachelor of Arts in criminology from Simon Fraser University in 1995 and a law degree from the University of Toronto in 1999, then articled and practised commercial litigation at a Bay Street firm in Toronto. Martin was called to the Ontario bar in 2001 and the British Columbia bar in 2003, moved back to Vancouver to practise with litigation firms there, and relocated the practice to Nanaimo in 2017. Martin holds the Canadian Forces Decoration for service with the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve and was conferred with King's Counsel in January 2026, part of the 2025 B.C. King's Counsel designation of 31 lawyers. Martin is a member of the Simpcw First Nation.
