About Burgess & Company

Burgess & Company is a father and son law firm based in Kelowna, British Columbia, operating as barristers, solicitors, and notaries public. The practice covers two areas: wills and estates work, including wills, powers of attorney, and estate administration, and residential real estate sales. Founder David Burgess was born in Vancouver and graduated from Simon Fraser University with a degree in political science in 1982. David Burgess also served as a legislative intern in Victoria and graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School in 1985, then trained at an established law firm in New Westminster before moving to Kelowna in 1990. The firm has since built what its own site calls a strongly established 30 year reputation in the community, run from a small home office rather than a large downtown practice.

Robert Burgess, who grew up in Kelowna, joined the practice as a lawyer after earning a Juris Doctor degree from Bond University Law School in Gold Coast, Australia, in 2019 and being called to the British Columbia Bar on February 1, 2022. Before being called to the Bar, Robert Burgess worked at the firm for several years as a legal assistant. Robert Burgess now focuses much of the practice on wills, estate planning, and probate, continuing the firm's father and son approach to personable, professional service.
