Common Law Firm is a family law practice in Victoria, British Columbia. It's the sole proprietorship of lawyer Sam Maroney, who founded the firm in 2020, and it handles divorce, separation, child support, spousal support, parenting arrangements, property division, family violence matters, relocation, and issues involving the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Maroney holds a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from the University of Alberta (2014) and a Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria (2018), and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2020. The firm's lawyer appears regularly in the Provincial and Supreme Courts of British Columbia.

Before opening the firm, Maroney articled at the Rise Women's Legal Centre in 2017, assisting low income women, then at Woodward & Company from 2018 to 2019, focusing on Aboriginal law in regulatory and court proceedings. Maroney also earned a Q.Arb arbitrator designation in 2020 and became an Accredited Family Law Mediator in 2025, so the firm can offer mediation and arbitration as alternatives to a court hearing. A paralegal at the firm has worked in the legal field since 2019, with a background in immigration, personal injury, and criminal law and a focus on family law files.
