About Emil Jelev, Barrister and Solicitor

Jelev Law is a solo employment law practice run by Emil Jelev, with an office at 3601 Highway 7 in Markham. Jelev is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School at York University and completed an undergraduate degree in life sciences at the University of Toronto's St. George campus, where research into spinal cord trauma at Toronto Western Hospital first sparked an interest in litigation. After articling at a personal injury firm in Richmond Hill, Jelev was called to the bar of Ontario, trained under an employment lawyer at a small Toronto firm, and subsequently joined Davenport Law Group.

The practice has covered employment law on both sides of the employment relationship: representing employees dealing with wrongful or constructive dismissal, employment contracts, and restrictive covenants, and advising employers on terminations, Human Rights Code complaints, and workplace safety obligations, including the right to refuse unsafe work. Court experience has included the Superior Court of Justice, Small Claims Court, the Landlord and Tenant Board, and Provincial Offences Court. Jelev is fluent in Bulgarian.
