The practice is run by Maxine M. Kerr, whose earlier career was in Bay Street civil litigation, corporate restructuring and insolvency work as a partner at two large Toronto firms, Smith Lyons LLP and Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP. Kerr holds a B.A. in bilingual political science from Glendon College, York University, with first-class standing, an LL.B. from the University of Toronto and an executive M.B.A. from the Rotman School of Business.

The practice now focuses exclusively on family law: the resolution of property, support and parenting disputes, plus the negotiation of marriage contracts and cohabitation agreements. Kerr's current work leans toward complex financial matters, including high net worth cases, privately owned businesses and family trusts. The approach favours keeping business and wealth intact while insulating children from parental conflict, and coordinates where needed with outside accountants and mental health professionals. Law clerk Olga Faleuko has worked with the practice since 2012, handling financial disclosure preparation and file management.
