Farhood Shamji Lawyers is a tenant of the Marsland Centre, a 13-storey, 115,000 square foot tower in Uptown Waterloo. Stan Marsland bought the corner of Erb and Albert from the City of Waterloo; it had been the site of Waterloo's historic town hall, which the city had abandoned and which had become run-down. Work on the new building was already under way when the old hall came down in August 1969, and the original cornerstone is now displayed in the lobby.
The tower opened on May 14, 1971. The City moved its offices in from Waterloo Square the same year and stayed on as a tenant until it moved into the City Centre. A four-storey addition and a parking garage came in 1993; the two-level garage has 220 spaces, 40 of which visitors can use through a pay-and-display system.
King and Erb, Waterloo's central intersection, is a short block from the door, with major Grand River Transit bus lines and the LRT close by. The Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery and the Waterloo Public Library are both within four blocks.
