About Paul Mergler

Paul K. Mergler is a sole criminal defence lawyer, a barrister and solicitor practising from an office at 1199 The Queensway in Etobicoke, in Toronto's west end. Mergler has practised criminal law in Ontario for more than 30 years and has appeared before every level of criminal court in the province, including jury trials. The practice covers assault, drug offences, impaired driving including driving over 80mg, dangerous driving, weapons and firearms offences, fraud, theft and other criminal matters. The Legal Aid Ontario lawyer directory also lists administrative tribunal work and Gladue matters among the practice's specialties.

Mergler earned a Bachelor of Arts with honours from Concordia University, graduating magna cum laude, then completed a law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School, where the Ivan Cleveland Rand Scholarship recognized the highest standing in Constitutional Law. Mergler is fluent in Spanish and has longstanding ties to Toronto's Spanish speaking community, including service on the board and legal committee of the Centre for Spanish Speaking Peoples. The Legal Aid Ontario directory lists French as well as Spanish and English among the languages spoken at the practice.
