The practice has focused exclusively on criminal defence since the call to the bar, handling charges that range from shoplifting to murder before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, and the Ontario Court of Appeal.
A majority of the firm's clients are young persons under eighteen, and Michael has put much of the community outreach and continuing legal education into the Youth Criminal Justice Act and how it treats young people differently from adults. Michael has also been named to Legal Aid Ontario's Extremely Serious Matters Panel, a roster for lawyers who meet Legal Aid's minimum standards for the most serious criminal trials.
