About John Struthers

John Struthers runs a solo criminal defence practice based in downtown Toronto, handling matters that range from bail hearings to first degree murder trials. The practice traces back to 1989, when Struthers first opened an office on Eagle Street in Newmarket. It later moved downtown, where it's now been based for close to three decades. Before setting out independently, four years were spent as an assistant Crown attorney in the late 1980s. A 1983 graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School, Struthers has since defended more than 100 murder charges at various levels of court, according to the firm's own site.

Struthers has twice served as a director of the Criminal Lawyers Association, first for Toronto from September 2006 to September 2010 and later for the province from 2014 to 2016. Struthers also testified before the Goudge Inquiry into pediatric forensic pathology in Ontario, and guest lectures on criminal law at the University of Toronto and Queen's University law faculties. Speaking engagements have included the Law Society, the Ontario Bar Association, the Criminal Lawyers Association, and groups of Justices of the Peace and Crown attorneys.
