About Hazzard & Hore

Hazzard & Hore is a two lawyer litigation firm in Toronto, founded in 1993 by Scott Hazzard and Ed Hore. Both partners were called to the Ontario bar in 1986. Hazzard practiced at Blake, Cassels & Graydon from 1986 to 1993 before starting the firm with Hore. Hazzard studied at Trinity College at the University of Toronto and at the University of Ottawa Law School, and handles civil, corporate, and commercial litigation as well as employment law, along with advisory work for not for profit organizations.

Hore built a practice centered on intellectual property litigation, with particular emphasis on pharmaceutical patent disputes, including proceedings under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations. The firm has appeared at every level of the Ontario and Federal courts, up to the Supreme Court of Canada, in matters involving patents, trademarks, and drug regulation. Hore is also a registered lobbyist before the federal and Ontario governments and has appeared before committees of the House of Commons and Senate on behalf of generic drug manufacturers. Before turning to law full time, Hore drew EHORE, a daily cartoon strip that ran in the Globe and Mail from 1981 to 1983 while attending Osgoode Hall Law School, and continued cartooning for Lawyers Weekly afterward.
