About Furgiuele Law

Furgiuele Law is a criminal defence firm based in downtown Toronto, working out of an office at 65 Front Street East. Founder Andrew Furgiuele was called to the bar after graduating from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 2007, the year Furgiuele won the Alan A. Mewett Q.C. Prize in criminal law. Before setting up Furgiuele Law, Furgiuele practiced in partnership with defence lawyer Delmar Doucette under a series of firm names, including Doucette Boni Santoro Furgiuele and Doucette Furgiuele Ruffo, and the two appeared together as counsel of record in Supreme Court of Canada matters. Doucette, called to the bar in 1988, now serves as senior appellate counsel at Furgiuele Law and is regularly appointed by the Court of Appeal for Ontario to conduct homicide appeals for unrepresented appellants.

The firm represents individuals, professionals, associations, corporations and unions in criminal trials, appeals and regulatory proceedings across Ontario, appearing at every level of court up to the Supreme Court of Canada. Its six lawyers were called to the bar across several decades, from Doucette's 1988 call to Kiellan Rook's call in 2026. David Hakim clerked for a Supreme Court of Canada justice and three judges of the Court of Appeal for Ontario before joining the firm, and Ioana Dragalin-Reeves previously worked as an Assistant Crown Attorney in Hamilton.

The neighbourhood

Furgiuele Law's office at 65 Front Street East sits inside a heritage designated commercial building dating to 1872, one of a row of nineteenth century structures along Front and Church streets in Toronto's St. Lawrence neighbourhood. Faced in polychrome brick with stone detailing, the building stands across from the Gooderham Flatiron Building and is protected under the Ontario Heritage Act as part of the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Heritage Conservation District. It's a fitting base for a firm whose lawyers travel across Ontario for trials and appeals rather than work from a single local caseload, set in one of Toronto's oldest commercial districts, a few blocks from the St. Lawrence Market.
