About PSV Law

PSV Law is a solo criminal defence practice in Toronto, founded by Paul S. Voinea. The firm keeps two offices, one in the Hudson's Bay Centre in Yorkville and one in the Transamerica Tower on Yonge Street in North York, and takes cases across the Greater Toronto Area. Voinea is licensed by the Law Society of Ontario and appears before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. The practice covers impaired driving, drug offences, assault, fraud, breaches of court orders, and bail hearings and appeals, and it's available in English, French, and Romanian, with other languages on request.

Before founding the firm, Voinea spent three years providing legal services to clients with limited financial means at a community legal aid clinic, and has worked alongside a criminal litigation specialist with over forty years of practice. Voinea represented several clients charged in Project Claudia, a Toronto police operation against marijuana dispensaries covered in 2016 news reports describing 43 dispensaries raided and close to 200 charges laid, and has appeared in CBC and Toronto Star coverage of other Toronto criminal cases. Voinea also judges the Osgoode Cup, a national mock trial competition at Osgoode Hall Law School, and sits on a mock trial organizing committee for the Ontario Justice Education Network.

Who handles what

The neighbourhood

PSV Law's two Toronto offices sit in very different settings. The downtown office is in the Hudson's Bay Centre, a 35 storey office and retail tower at the northeast corner of Yonge and Bloor Streets that has anchored that corner of Yorkville since 1974. The uptown office is in the Transamerica Tower at 5000 Yonge Street in North York, among the office and condo towers of the Yonge corridor rather than Yorkville's boutiques and hotels.

Rather than anchoring itself to a single courthouse, the firm's own site lists the specific Toronto and regional courts where it appears, from Old City Hall and College Park downtown to the Scarborough, Etobicoke, and North York Metro courts, and out to Brampton, Newmarket, Oshawa, Barrie, Hamilton, and Milton. That's the kind of spread that fits a criminal defence practice built to follow cases and clients across the Greater Toronto Area rather than one tied to a single neighbourhood.
