Dan Stein, Criminal Lawyer is a sole practitioner criminal defence firm in Toronto's Liberty Village. Dan Stein studied law at Queen's University and was called to the bar in 2000, then began practicing criminal law almost exclusively as a sole practitioner from that point forward. More than 20 years of that practice have centred on four areas: bail hearings, the full range of Criminal Code charges, Charter of Rights and Freedoms challenges, and criminal appeals, with more than 50 appearances before the Court of Appeal.

The Charter work covers arguments to challenge the validity of a search warrant, to exclude evidence obtained through a violation of a client's rights, and to seek a stay of charges based on unreasonable delay. Outside the courtroom, Dan Stein teaches and leads mindfulness groups and has written about applying meditation practice, including trauma informed approaches, to the pressures of criminal defence work.
