About BLP Law Professional Corporation

BLP Law Professional Corporation is a small corporate and securities law firm in downtown Toronto, run by principal and founder Brian Prill. Prill started the firm in 2012 and marked five years in practice there in 2017. The path to law was unconventional: Prill spent more than fifteen years as an electrician, including five years in Fort McMurray, Alberta, then moved into union representation, electrical contracting, and a decade in sales management and business training before turning to legal studies.

Prill was called to the Ontario bar in 2002 and the New York bar in 2003, and has practiced corporate and securities law since 2001. Credentials include a BA in political science, an LL.B. from 2000, an MBA from 2001, an LL.M. in corporate finance and securities law from 2009, and a certificate in mining law from 2012. Before founding BLP Law, Prill worked as an associate at Torys and as a partner at McLean & Kerr and Blaney McMurtry, and served as director and president of the Private Capital Markets Association of Canada.

The firm's work centers on exempt market financings, initial public offerings, dealer registration, mergers and acquisitions, securities compliance, and general corporate matters. Its clients include mining companies, technology companies, and other law firms and lawyers who need securities law advice.
