About Locksley Group

Locksley Group is an association of independent Ontario lawyers based in Brampton, not a single traditional firm. Attila Jantsek formed it in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, after noticing that a lot of the old ways of running a law practice, like opening a large office and waiting for people to walk in, no longer worked the way they used to. From that idea, lawyers who each keep their own separate practice work together under the Locksley Group name, built around three stated principles: transparency, loyalty, and tenacity. Jantsek's own background includes an undergraduate degree in criminology.

Day to day, the group's work centers on criminal defence, covering arrests, bail hearings, and charges from assault and impaired driving to theft and fraud, handled from the first court appearance through trial if a case doesn't resolve earlier. It also takes on Legal Aid Ontario certificate cases for clients who can't afford a private lawyer. Locksley Group publishes its fee ranges instead of negotiating them case by case: summary offence matters generally start around $8,000, indictable offences are often under $12,000, and trial days are billed separately, all subject to HST. A second lawyer in the network brings immigration, real estate, and personal injury experience from a separate practice, including matters argued before the Federal Court of Canada.
