Kilgour Law is a small Brampton firm run by D. Ian Kilgour, a barrister and solicitor practicing family law, criminal law, and civil litigation across the Greater Toronto Area. Kilgour started out in Winnipeg, obtaining a call to the Manitoba bar in 1985 and spending six years in litigation there, appearing at every level of court from traffic court up to the Manitoba Court of Appeal, including work on a first degree murder trial as part of a defence team. A call to the Ontario bar followed in 1991, and by 1996 the practice had moved from Toronto to the Region of Peel, then a rapidly expanding part of the GTA, with offices opening in Mississauga and Brampton that year.
Day to day work at the firm covers separations, custody, and child support; criminal defence from bail hearings through trial; and civil litigation, including employment disputes, personal injury claims, and estate disputes. Kilgour Law also handles wills, powers of attorney, real estate transactions, and business incorporations, and has taken on admiralty law matters in Federal Court in Toronto.
