Do I need probate if a family member dies without a will?

GKB Law helps estate trustees apply for a Certificate of Appointment of Estate Trustee Without a Will when someone dies without a will, and a Certificate of Appointment With a Will when one exists. Most financial institutions require that certificate, and in many cases so does a transfer of real property, before estate assets can be released or transferred.
