About Notturno Law

Notturno Law is a sole criminal, family, and child protection practice in downtown Ottawa, run by Sonya Notturno. The practice traces back to 2009, when Notturno became a partner at Chenier and Notturno at the same Metcalfe Street address, before becoming the sole proprietor of Notturno Law on January 1, 2021. Notturno was called to the Ontario bar in 2002 and holds a B.Sc. from McGill University (1997) and an LL.L. and LL.B. from the University of Ottawa (2000 and 2001). As a member of both the Ontario and Quebec bars, Notturno appears before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, municipal courts, and the Court of Quebec, and in February 2023 was appointed a deputy judge of the Ottawa Small Claims Court.

The practice covers criminal defence in both Ontario and Quebec, family law, and child protection matters, including cases involving the Children's Aid Society and independent representation for children through the Office of the Children's Lawyer. Notturno Law works in English, French, and Italian, and accepts Legal Aid certificates for criminal and child protection matters. The office serves Ottawa, Gatineau, and the surrounding region from Metcalfe Street in Ottawa's Centretown neighbourhood.
