About Alisa Family Law

Alisa Family Law is a Hamilton, Ontario family law practice built around a single litigator, Alisa P. Williams. The firm handles family and child protection matters exclusively: custody and access, divorce and separation, spousal and child support, adoption, property division, and cases involving the Children's Aid Society. For almost 11 years, Williams served as an agent on the panel of lawyers with the Office of the Children's Lawyer, an independent office within Ontario's Ministry of the Attorney General that represents children's interests in family court cases. That combination gives the practice a vantage point on custody and child protection disputes that spans both the parent's side of a case and the child's.

Williams earned an LL.B. from the University of Alberta in 1997, where the law program awarded the Beltzberg Entrance Scholarship, and was called to the bar in 1999. Before law school, Williams completed an Honours B.A. in Psychology and a B.A. in Gerontology at McMaster University in Hamilton, graduating second in the class and summa cum laude. The practice has also taken Williams before the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan, along with matters in Nova Scotia.
