Neil Lawson Criminal Defence is a small criminal law practice in Milton, Ontario, with an office directly across the street from the Milton courthouse. The firm's founder, Brendan Neil, is certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Criminal Law and holds a Bachelor of Human Kinetics and a Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia. Neil was called to the bar of the Law Society of British Columbia in 2001, after a year of articling at Feller Drysdale, a Vancouver personal injury litigation firm, and started out practicing criminal and family law in the Vancouver area. A commission as an officer in the Canadian Forces led to a posting in Ontario as a lawyer for the Judge Advocate General, advising the military chain of command on military justice, criminal law, administrative law, and contracts, before an Ontario practice focused on criminal law opened in 2005.

The firm operates today as Neil Lawson Criminal Defence, a name formed through the merger of Neil's criminal law practice with that of Sarah Lawson, who is no longer practicing law. Neil Lawson handles Criminal Code offences, drug charges, and youth criminal justice matters, appearing regularly in courts across Halton, Peel, Hamilton, Kitchener, and Toronto. Neil holds a place on Legal Aid Ontario's Extremely Serious Matters panel and is listed there as speaking French in addition to English.
