The firm's building in Arthur has been where the community has gone for conveyancing and legal help for more than a hundred years. In its current form the practice goes back to 1968, when David Duncan Smith, Q.C., who had followed a father and an uncle into law, established it.
Angela Alaimo spent years first as a clerk and then as an articling student before joining David Smith and Robert Janzen in 1984. Since 2015 Angela Alaimo has run the practice as a sole practitioner.

The neighbourhood
The office at 197 George Street sits on the same street as the plaque marking the Founding of Arthur, found at the southwest corner of George and Francis streets, a block north of Road 109. Arthur was named for Arthur Wellesley, Duke of Wellington, and stood at the southern end of the Garafraxa colonization road to Owen Sound. Saw and grist mills sped up its growth, and it was the natural market centre for the area's farm production. The village had its own weekly paper, the Enterprise, and a Divisional Court sat there. A Toronto, Grey and Bruce Railway station opened in 1872, and Arthur was incorporated as a village that year.
George Street was also home to the Wellington County Creamery, on the site now occupied by Crawford Funeral Home, which made 1.5 million pounds of butter over a 15 year period. Murals in the downtown core reflect Arthur's war history.
