About Turner Winter

Turner Winter is a small general practice law firm based in Uxbridge, Ontario, at 63 Albert Street. The firm grew out of Douglas Turner's independent practice, started in 1976 after working as an associate and partner at several Toronto firms, including Blake, Cassels & Graydon. Turner was called to the bar in 1967, became a Queen's Counsel in 1981, and is a member of the New York State Bar Association.

Trevor Winter joined as a partner after a different path into law: a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, Justice and Policy Studies from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, work as a police officer in Durham Region after Ontario Police College, then Osgoode Hall Law School and a call to the bar in 2012. Winter articled with Ontario's Ministry of the Attorney General, across the Crown Law Office Civil and the Ministries of the Environment and Finance, and ran a sole practice in Brooklin before joining the firm.

Turner Winter's practice covers civil litigation, municipal law, wills, estates and trusts, corporate and commercial matters including international taxation, and real estate and mortgages. Turner has appeared before Ontario and federal trial and appellate courts, provincial and federal tribunals up to the Supreme Court of Canada, municipal councils, and parliamentary committees, with matters that have also touched New York, Florida, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, and Grand Cayman. The firm serves clients in English and French.
