Family LawW. Laurence Scott, K.C. is a family law mediator and arbitrator based in New Westminster, British Columbia, currently serving as Associate Counsel at Baker Newby LLP. He was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1990, in Nova Scotia in 1991, and in British Columbia in 1993, and has practised divorce and family law since relocating to Kamloops, where he ran his own firm, Scott & Company, before moving his practice to New Westminster in 2004. Scott is qualified by the Law Society of British Columbia as a Family Law Arbitrator, Family Law Mediator, and Parenting Coordinator, and has been a mediator since 2002. He served as Chair of the Legal Aid Committee of the Canadian Bar Association (British Columbia) and as President of the New Westminster Bar Association, and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2016 and a Governor of the Law Foundation of British Columbia in 2017. He holds a B.A. (Honours) from the University of Toronto and an LL.B. from the University of Windsor.
