About Sweta

Sweta Tejpal practises criminal and immigration law, representing individuals and institutional clients at both the trial and appellate level. Her background in criminology and justice studies informs a direct approach to defending clients facing charges ranging from domestic assault and drug possession to sexual assault and murder. On the immigration side, she has handled sponsorship appeals, Federal Court judicial reviews, and humanitarian and compassionate applications. She has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, and the Ontario Court of Appeal, sits on the panel for Legal Aid Ontario, and serves as a per diem duty counsel in Peel and a per diem crown attorney for Ontario. As Peel Director for the Criminal Lawyers Association, she co-chairs its accessibility committee and sits on its education and legal aid committees, and she mentors through the Law Practice Program at Toronto Metropolitan University and the John Howard Society.
