About Laurie

Laurie Oakes practises law in Swan River, Manitoba. She grew up in Powerview-Pine Falls and earned her law degree from the University of Manitoba in 2002, then practised in Dauphin, Powerview-Pine Falls, and Winnipeg, including as a lawyer for the City of Winnipeg. In 2013 she joined Bergthor (Beggie) Palsson as his first female partner at Palsson Law Office in the Swan River Valley; when Palsson retired in 2014 after 36 years of practice, the firm was renamed Oakes Law Office. She relocated to the Valley with her family to raise her children in a small-town setting.
