About Jean-Marc

Jean-Marc Clément founded Étude Légale Clément in 2015 after two decades directing litigation groups at other organizations, including BCF, PwC and Omnitrans. He has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1989 and practises exclusively in international trade law, covering customs procedures, tariffs, duty refunds, sourcing and supply-chain matters, import and export controls, anti-dumping and countervailing duties, free trade agreements, transfer pricing, economic sanctions, and anti-corruption compliance in cross-border commerce. He represents clients before administrative tribunals, including the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, and before the federal courts, advising multinational corporations, small and medium businesses, and startups. Clément holds a civil law degree from the University of Ottawa (1988) and a postgraduate diploma in international commerce from EM Strasbourg Business School (1993), and has taught a master's course on NAFTA and free trade agreements at McGill University. He belongs to the Canadian Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers, and sits on the Quebec executive committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada.
