About Jasreet

Jasreet Kaur Badyal, known as Jas, was born and raised in Calgary and is the owner and sole lawyer at JKB Law. She earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria in 2014 and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with First Class Honours from the University of Calgary in 2011, and was called to the Alberta bar in 2016. She articled at Calgary Legal Guidance, a nonprofit providing free legal services to low-income Calgarians, focusing on family, criminal, and poverty-related matters, then worked with a Vancouver family and fertility law firm before returning to Calgary to practise human rights and mediation. She has run her own firm since 2020, focusing on family and divorce law and residential real estate, and in 2025 added mediation and arbitration services. She provides pro bono legal advice through Calgary Legal Guidance and has spoken at Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers Pride events on LGBTQ2S+ representation in the legal profession.
